Cheap Domain Name Registration

Tuesday September 9, 2008

Your domain name is your website address (eg., about.com, yourcompanyname.com). You register domains for a year, and you pay a domain name registrar to maintain that record.

Domain registration is a commodity service -- they all update the same master DNS directory. That means a $10 per year domain registration is exactly the same as a $25 per year registration.

Bottom line: Never pay more than $10 per year on domain registration.

I use GoDaddy. They're relatively cheap, though not the cheapest, and have a decent suite of tools and services.

Here is a list of the top 7 cheapest domain name registrars, based on the price of one .com name for one year.
