10 Questions for CrossLoop Cofounder Mrinal Desai

CrossLoop is a remote desktop application and PC support marketplace

From , former About.com Guide

6. Is CrossLoop only for PC support? Can I get help with other tech issues like web design or SEO?

One of the key differentiators about CrossLoop is that one can find PC support or at the other end of the spectrum, training on how to blog.

Yes - you can get help on almost anything related to computers including web design and SEO.

7. Do you support Windows / Mac / Linux? If not, when do you expect it will be available?

Currently, CrossLoop is available only on Windows. We are working on a Mac version right now. We hope to have it sooner rather than later. This would enable Mac to Windows and vice-versa - it will be seamlessly cross-platform. We are small so Linux would be after that.

8. Where can I go learn more about CrossLoop -- either as a person looking for help or as a freelancer looking for more clients?

On CrossLoop, we have an exhaustive amount of information for 'Getting Started' here:

  1. Getting Started with our desktop sharing software.
  2. Getting Started if you are seeking help.
  3. Getting Started if you want to sign up as a Helper.

9. What cool new things can we expect from CrossLoop in '09?

We are definitely very excited about the Mac version. It's one of the biggest requirements asked by our users. Secondly, being from the social networking industry myself from its early days and CrossLoop inherently being a social application (helping others synchronously), we envision some very exciting features in that category.

Finally, we are very focused on our expert Helpers -- we plan to bring more tools for them that will enable them to sustain and grow their business on CrossLoop.

10. Anything else you'd like to add?

I always believe the genesis of a company/product is really important to 'connect' with a company.

My co-founder, Tom Rolander, built the screen sharing software so that he could remotely help his father, who was diagnozed with Alzheimer's.

I was an early employee at LinkedIn and combining the notion that it's all about relationships and my experience of learning quickly when I moved to the US from India from others around me, enabled us to build this marketplace where we wanted to enable anyone to share and learn from each other.

It is highly unproductive to try and learn everything ourselves from scratch when there is someone who specializes in it. Why would you want to read the entire manual if someone could teach you just what you need at the fraction of a time.

We fundamentally believe that when you 'learn', the letter 'l' becomes silent and you can then 'earn'.

Thank you Mrinal for taking the time to talk to us about CrossLoop!
