Definition: Information stored in the HTML that provides additional details about a webpage, such as its keywords and descriptions.
The three main META tags:
- META Title -- Very Important. The title of the webpage that is displayed at the top of the Web browser, and is used for the links in SERPs.
- META Description -- Important. Used in SERPs, usually the short 2-3 line summary of the link.
- META Keywords -- Not Important. Due to abuse by webmasters, the META keyword has lost any real value.
