9. With many traditional style businesses looking to social media as a means to market, how does a social network market itself?

The reality is that at the end of the day, a social network doesn’t really market itself at all. It’s about focusing relentlessly on refining and improving the platform so that users love it and feel genuinely valued. Then users will be happy to spread the word. Users talking to each other, as opposed to traditional marketing, is what will deliver growth for Social Networks.

Learn Early and Learn Often! It’s all about getting the site out there as early as possible in its development, even when you know it is far from perfect. Then you have to listen sincerely and intently to your users, seeing how they want the platform to develop. Then you have make it happen for them by iterating very, very fast.
